Since November 2009 EGAMI STYLE has been working exclusively with the Miss Universe contestants on the key elements of personal image, presentation and preparing for their final answers. In our capacity as both a hands-on coach to the Miss Universe girls and a judge in the state heats leading up to the final we are proud of the journey these girls have taken and our involvement in shaping them to take on the national competition.

Following on from the State Final EGAMI STYLE will continue to coach the finalists selected from this event to compete in the national Miss Universe Australia competition, the winner of which will compete for Miss Universe internationally. The State Final is a special opportunity to see some of WA’s most beautiful, talented and confident young women.

Style & Confidence 2010 was held last month aboard the luxury Moonlight Express. The Style & Confidence day was a unique and stylish event and the first of its kind. While sipping on a signature cocktail with lynches and a zest of lime, the beautiful professional women of Perth who attended had the opportunity to take part in practical presentations facilitated our leading advisors in branding, style and career.

We shared our expert advice and insights for professional presentation and aligned this to how to discover your own personal brand. One of our lucky winners had the opportunity to take part in a full image and style program. This transformation was filmed and aired on the day. With the festive season fast approaching, many calendars are quickly filling up with end of year work functions, Christmas parties and New Year’s celebrations. Before it’s too late, now is an important time to schedule in some ‘time out’ for yourself, something that is often overlooked during this hectic time of year.

Everybody has a different way of unwinding; perusing the latest fashion at the stores or on-line with a glass of champagne (highly recommended!), working out at the gym, perhaps a little pampering or reading a great book. Wouldn’t you agree that it’s essential to make the time to do these things on a regular basis? Maintaining a ‘work-life balance’ can become a bit difficult if like us, you really do enjoy what you do for a living. It is us, however, who generally burn out the quickest as we never switch off, mentally or in the technological sense.

If there simply are not enough hours in the day to take time out for yourself, then how about scheduling that meeting over a game of golf or a walk around the river rather than in the boardroom? In most cases, your client or colleague is probably just as time-deprived as you are and would enjoy the break!

How Fashion Reflects Social Mood

We here at EGAMI STYLE are fascinated by the deeper psychology of image and are constantly observing how our collective mood is reflected in fashion and trends. Much like selecting a coloured shirt that represents how we feel that morning, we can also look to financial markets to determine the appropriateness of the height of our skirt or even the width of our tie. No wonder why everyone is wearing so much black!

Fashion is a key indicator of social mood and one term that you may have heard recently is ‘recessionary fashion’. You only need to watch the latest runways of Paris and you’ll see examples from Ralph Lauren and Hermès with ‘collections inspired from Dust Bowl Okies to tennis courts, aka the ‘Great Gatsby’ revival’. An interesting article by Robert R Prechter gives insight into how the current spring fashion trends are indicative of ‘recessionary’ times, thus being tied to financial markets.
